We are two practicing ecologists with interests beyond the narrowly academic. We both were born in Mexico, but developed a substantial part of our careers in universities in the United States. Our points of view are probably influenced by this combination of experiences. And moreover, due to this background we sometimes write in English, sometimes in Spanish.
